Mentoring programme connects international students with Finnish employers

The HERA Mentoring Program was piloted in 2012-2013. The aim of the was to bring together mentors from local businesses and international students who aim at a career in Finland. Le, a Vietnamese student from Lahti UAS, thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

First Master's degree from MURE programme

Australian Elliot Stuart was the first student to graduate from the Master's degree programme in Multidisciplinary Studies on Urban Environmental Issues, provided by the University of Helsinki, Lahti Campus.

The Lahti Science Day 2013 on the 12th November

The Lahti Science Day 2013 will be held at the learning centre Fellmannia on Tuesday, 12th November. The seminar will explore the wide spectrum of research carried out in Päijät-Häme. The main target grour for the Lahti Science Day is the general public. Call-for-Papers will announced later this spring.

Here are the winners of the Puhutaan suomeksi! campaign (Let’s talk in Finnish)!

The Puhutaan suomeksi! campaign started in September 2012. The aim of the programme was to support the Finnish learning of international students and encourage them to learn the language in normal everyday situations. The campaign finished at the end of November 2012 when students were required to return their passports to their Faculty’s study office. During the programme students collected stamps into their Finnish language passport when visiting campus services, such as cafeterias and libraries. The clear winner of the Puhutaan suomeksi! campaign was the Cameroonian Moumi Jackson, a student from the Faculty of Technology at Lahti University of Applied Scineces (LUAS).

Friendship Family Programme starts in January 2013!

Friendship Family Programme for higher education students in Lahti starts in January 2013! Integration into a completely new culture is a challenging process for international students; in particular for those who wish to complete a degree in a foreign country and potentially settle there after finishing their studies. The Friendship Family Programme is aimed at supporting international students with their integration into the Finnish society.

Welcome new students in the international degree programmes in Lahti!

This autumn 129 new students are starting their studies in the international degree programmes in Lahti. All together six different international degree programmes are starting this year; five at the Lahti University of Applied Sciences and one the Lahti University Consortium. The Bachelors degree in Nursing is the newest addition to the programmes!
